The Game |
Window Cutters™ is a 3D third person, story driven
drama, that uses multiple elements of graffiti as the base of the
story.
Window Cutters™ falls into the action adventure genre with
psychological thriller elements. It will create a sense of empathy
between the user and the main characters as the story unfolds. The
game's atmosphere is dark and realistic. Window Cutters™ will have
similarities with movies like Brick, Number 23, & Beat Street.
The game mechanics will be similar to the game,
"The Warriors". There will be button prompts for action scenes that
the user will need to press in time to complete the sequence. The
user will guide the character's hand over an indicated shape,
tracing it. This will create the beginning of a tag that the game
will then finish. The user will also be able to play various mini
games to further the story. Some of these games are Handball, DJing,
and Break Dancing.
Hand ball is played in third person. The object of the game is to
come in contact with the ball before it bounces twice. The user can
use different moves to add style points. This includes hand springs,
cartwheels, back flips, back hands and more. These moves will be
learned by defeating other players. This will also be playable
online.
In the DJ game, the user will use the analog sticks to control the
turntables scratching and the D-pad will control the fader changing
between the two records. The player will be able to record and
display their DJ skills online.
The Break Dancing game will be associated with a character, i.e.:
Tripp’s will be hand ball, Shapes will DJ and Kaymi dances.
The games title screen will have NPCs playing handball in the court
(The Hub) with trains passing in the distance. The start menu will
have people drawing graffiti in three different locations. The
handball court, inside of a train car and inside a local Chinese
restaurant window. All with a brief voice over.
Game play elements include drawing artistic
graffiti on subway window, bus window, restaurant windows, basically
any soft glass surface. There are six styles in the game's fighting
system. Tripp uses Brazilian grappling and hyperextension of
appendages. Shape is a Brawler and uses pin point punches. Kaymi
focuses on weak pressure points for stabbing. Nigel has a wild
style. Kogi uses a Karate style. The final boss uses a standard
fighting technique with a katana cane.
Window Cutters™ is marketed to the Mature gamer. That does not mean
it will have sexual content. There are characters that may use
alcohol or drugs in the game. The game's storyline, solving a
murder, lends itself well to a mature theme. Window Cutters™ will fit
well on all the current generation hardware, especially the PS3 and
the Xbox 360. Episodic game content over PSN & Xbox LIVE are planned
(possibly the Wii as well).
Window Cutters™ will consist of four chapters, one
for each character and a last chapter named "Culmination". There
will be implementations for the Sixaxis controllers & Wiimote when
using a spray can, a cutting tool and controlling the motion of the
character's hand. The player will be able to play through the Window
Cutter's™ storyline with all three main characters,
Tripp, Shape & Kaymi.

Shape has the ability to influence people with his art, making them

his cause or convince them that he is right when they think
otherwise. Shape usually can show a symbol while talking and
influence others thoughts. Tripp is unaffected by this. Shape also
has the ability to take out an opponent with a few well placed hits.

Kaymi is of Mexican and Philippino heritage and was living in
California with her father who is also a graffiti artist. Kaymi
is the type of person everyone loves & desires (like Nefertiti or
Helen of Troy). This gets her into trouble because guys fall fast & hard for her. Kaymi can use small knives and scalpels to
protect herself by targeting her opponents pressure
points. She is a formidable opponent.
NPCs
There will be other NPCs that the player will interact with. There
are graffiti crews that occupy different areas of
Brooklyn. The different crews will have themes. One group is Future
Crew. Future Crew are located in the upper class area of
the city. Their tags are mostly video game characters and robots,
they are Asian tech heads, and are not highly respected by other
crews. Unknown to the others they have eyes and ears (camera’s and
mics) in all the other crew's hangout areas.
The crew that Tripp and (eventually) Shape will belong to is called,
The Cutters. They look no different than the rest of the
teens who walk around the urban environment that they live in. Their
symbol is a window with a cut going through it. Because
of the police presence in the city, they use a different form of
graffiti called Window Cutting. Window Cutting is when the
artist uses a sharp edged tool (sharpened stones in chalk holders,
or switch blades) to cut words and expressions in to
glass. Because this does not involve chemicals, it can be done in
open areas. All of the different crews know about window
cutting, some use it to mark the train line, which is how territory
is indicated in the game.
The Cutters have formed a language using symbols to let others know
where they well be at a certain time and place. This language will
play a key part in the game when trying to advance. In essence the
users create their own clues.

The Story |
|
In the heart of the city, two young ladies fall for
a local street artist. This artist is Tripp and Shape's father. He
had the ability to make people feel the emotion of his work. One of
the first pieces of work he did was a mural for a friend that passed
away. Total strangers that passed the mural shed tears as if they
lost their closest friend. From then on, he was known as Primo
(The Best) and began to leave his mark on the city wherever he
could. Soon, Primo would meet the most delicate flower & the most
beautiful rose with a thorn that would end his life.
Ruby, Tripp’s mother came from a stable home with both
parents. Her parents kept Ruby occupied outside of school with art
lessons. She and Primo meet when she was coming home one day with a
painting from class. The painting caught Primo's eye as real beauty.
After admiring them (both her and the painting), Primo & Ruby became
friends through their love of art.
Shape's mother, Josilin had less supervision so she had more
interaction with Primo. He taught her how to express herself through
graffiti. She was more of a friend than a lover in Primo's eyes, but
to her it was more than a friendship. She offered herself to him one
night and the rest is history.
Josilin also had someone who loved her from afar and hated Primo;
this person will have a hand in a robbery and the death of Primo.
The player must solve the murder of Primo. Segments of Primo's death
are revealed to each character through Tripp's visions and a diary
kept by Shape's mother.
Chapter 1 of Window Cutters™ will mainly focus on Tripp & Kaymi's
relationship. Shape's involvement will be played through Chapter 2.
Chapters 3 & 4 will reveal Kaymi's true reason for being in NY and
completing the mystery of Primo's death.

Intro |
|
The story begins with Kaymi leaving
indications for Tripp to follow her on the window of a train station
door, he barely figures out what it said before he notices she got
on a train and he rushes to get on the last car getting caught in
the doors partly. As he makes his way through the cars noticing the
different tags on the windows. This is the player’s introduction to
the window cutting system and to the other NPCs. When he reaches the
first car he can see Kaymi cutting a very detailed picture into the
front window next to the conductor’s car. Just as he approaches her,
she turns around and says this is our stop. As the player is leaving
the train Tripp will focus on the train car number (the player will
need to find this car later in the game).
An in game movie showing Kaymi and Tripp walking up to Battery Park
together will be played. After a brief conversation they start back
toward the train station they are attacked by a rival crew. A brawl
ensues, After collecting himself Tripp notices that Kaymi is gone
but finds her kitty back pack with blood on it . The story then
flashes back to six months, where they first meet.

Chapter 1 |
|
Tripp finds out about his father, his
father's talents, & his own. Tripp's fighting style is Brazilian
martial arts which he learned from a Brazilian restaurant owner and
former graffiti artist named Manny. Manny watched the events that
lead to Tripp's birth as well as taking Tripp under his wing after
his father died. In the back of Manny's restaurant is a courtyard
with Brazilian style graffiti all around. This is one of the things
that inspires Tripp as an artist.
Tripp is also inspired by the murals his father left around the
city. As a mini game, if Tripp finds all of his father's murals and
uses his ability to find out more about his father the last three
murals will led to a hiding place where his father had a large
amount of money stashed. This could be used in the story or as an
Easter egg to an alternate ending.
While tagging up, Tripp finds Kaymi being harassed by another crew
of graffiti artists called the Mohocks. The Mohocks are lead by an
English wanker named Nigel. They mention that someone sent them to
get her but are being violent so Tripp steps in and defends her by
taking out the whole crew by himself.
Afterwards they leave and let Tripp know to watch himself before he
crosses the wrong people.
Kaymi come out from hiding and tells Tripp ”I can handle myself you
know. But, MAN! did you put it on those guys Thanks.”. They spend
some time getting to know each other before they head back to
Tripp's place for a proper thank you. ;)
When Tripp awakes Kaymi is gone and he begins his search. He figure
out from a tag that a guy from the Future Crew has and can get any
info needed. When he approaches this person about the info, they
make several requests of him. After completing them and a little
force they tell him where to go.
After arriving just in time to catch Kaymi spying on a conversation
between Nigel with the Mohocks crew and another Crew “The League”,
lead by Shape, a tall muscular guy with locks. One of Shape's
henchmen tell him in his ear that there is someone watching. Shape
announces “Oh yeah well if he was a real Man he’d step out and show
his face”. Trying not to lose face in front of Kaymi, Tripp steps
out. When he does, Nigel recognizes him and tells Shape, “He’s the
one that got in our way before. Get ‘em!”. A fight starts. After
Tripp takes out the flunkies, Shape steps up this is the first boss
fight. The first chapter ends after this fight.
